Anna Jurko (nee Conway) left this Earth to be with God in heaven October 12, 2016. She was the mother of Laura Smith (spouse David), Robert Jurko, David Yurko (Katrina), John Conway (Carol), and Susan Wiechelman (Dale); grandmom of Smith's children: Brian, Kevin, Adam, & Allison Zoeller, 2 Jurko's: Rob & Steve, 2 Yurko's: Marissa & Claire, 2 Conway's: Mary & Sarah, and 2 Wiechelman's: Matthew & Brittany. Husband Michael Jurko Jr., brothers James & Bill Conway, sisters Kathleen Swanson, Rosemary Glick, & Patty Pattison, and best friend Jack Dunson are all pre-deceased.
Ann was full of life! She loved to tell her life stories, including her escapades with her five siblings and friends. As a child, she was instilled with a love of dance. Her father paid for her dance lessons and when company came to the home, she would dance Irish jigs to entertain. She and husband Mike square danced together, she line-danced with her daughters and even late in her life she wanted to dance with family and friends. At the Irish-American Club in Euclid Ohio she socialized and enjoyed singers and dancers. Having 12 Grandchildren, she was always either going to visit them, or being visited. A few years ago she had written a note to her niece, proudly expressing that she was most proud of her five children and loved them all as best as she could…. And that she had lived a long, active life. Ann also had told her niece that at Saint Philomena elementary school she was chosen to be one of the angels because she was tall for her age. Now she has joined the Angels in Heaven.
Anna was born to parents James and Mary Ellen Conway on November 6, 1929 in East Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated from Shaw High School in that city. Having many suitors, she ultimately chose to marry Michael Jurko at age 18. About the age of 42 she began studying for a Business degree at Cuyahoga Community College. Her son Dave attended the same college and they shared one Speech course together. At 45 she graduated from the college, earning an Associate Degree. Her great grandchildren are William and Samuel Smith, Madelyn Zoeller, and Bryce Berzack (Yurko).
