Anthony Leanza III - known to most of Cleveland as Tattoo Tony - passed away on July 13, 2022 after a battle with lung cancer. Tony was born to Lenore and Anthony Leanza II in Cleveland, but spent most of his life in South Euclid, OH. He studied at Lakeland Community College and served in the US Marine Corps, but his true calling was always his art and he pursued it with a passion. For over three decades he was one of the most well-known tattoo artists in northeast Ohio, winning countless awards, appearing in magazines and going on to train many apprentices. When he wasn't tattooing, Tony kept busy drawing, painting, and trying out every imaginable kind of craft, or riding his Harley with friends.
The only thing Tony loved more than art was his family. Devoted, generous and kind, Tony had a soft spot for babies and children. He said "a baby is a blessing", and he was blessed three times with children he adored.
Tony lived life at full throttle, without hesitation or second guessing. He was easygoing, funny, and gentle with a beatific smile; everyone who met him liked him. He was the life of the party. Tony was always popular with women, but he finally met his match in his girlfriend Lynn, who was faithfully by his side for the last few years of his life. He is preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his children Anthony IV, Tara and Saffron, brothers Michael and David, and sister Tami.
Proud of his Catholic faith, Tony bravely and peacefully went to meet his maker. He was surrounded at his bedside and showered with love by his family.
A celebration of Tony's life will be held at The Fioritto Funeral Home, 5236 Mayfield Road, Lyndhurst, OH 44124 from 5 to 7 pm on Weds., August 3rd.
