Carlo DiFranco of Mayfield Heights, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family and after a remarkable 92 years of living life exactly the way he wanted—right up to his final day. He was the beloved husband of 70 years to Angiolina DiFranco.
Born on November 4, 1933, in Rionero Sannitico, Italy, Carlo proudly served in the Italian military before immigrating to Belgium and then to the United States in 1967. For more than a half-century he made Mayfield Heights his home, retiring after many dedicated years as a factory worker at General Electric.
Until the very end, Carlo could be found tending his beloved garden, sharing his wonderful homemade wine and the bounty of his harvest, and enjoying spirited games of bocce and cards with his many cherished friends. A faithful parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, he never missed Sunday Mass when he was able.
Everything Carlo did was for his family. He was the most resilient, strong, and selfless man his family ever knew—a true model of how a man should care for and lead those he loved. He leaves behind a legacy of devotion that will live on in the hearts of his beloved wife Angiolina; his beloved children, Mauro DiFranco, Maria Toth (Bernie), Marilena Walsh (James), Bruno DiFranco (Pam), and Gino DiFranco (Sara); his adored grandchildren; Nicole Gibbs (Bryan), Marie Smith (Nick), Theresa, Michelle and Joe DiFranco, Steven Toth (Chelsey), Christina Neal (Travis), Thomas (Sarah), Ryan (Katie), Kevin (Mia) and Matthew (Jessica) Walsh, Antonio and Angelina DiFranco, Samantha Kopp (Ethan), Dominic (fiancé Jamie Carpenter), Gianna and Benjamin DiFranco, his 9 treasured great-grandchildren; brother Adelio DiFranco (Pina) (Of Belgium), sisters Lina DiFranco (Tito, deceased) of Belgium and Anna D'Amico (Nicola, deceased) (of Italy), brothers-in-law Gelsomino (Giovanna), Adelio (Lucia) and Anthony (deceased) (Linda, deceased) DiFranco, and countless relatives and friends in the United States, Italy, and Belgium.
His grandchildren will carry his endless stories with them for the rest of their lives. We were all so fortunate to have had him with us for this long—a rare and precious gift. Carlo has gone home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ. Please keep his wife Angiolina and the entire family in your prayers.
