Carmella Sinisgalli

Carmella Sinisgalli, devoted wife, cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away on March 13, 2025 at the age of 100.

Carmella was born January 4, 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio to Tony and Tally Franduto. She also had two loving brothers Frank and Butchy who preceded her in death. Carmella was known to skip school to see Frank Sinatra matinee shows and yes, she was one of the many young ladies screaming from the front row! Upon graduating from high school, she and best friend Esther headed out to a dude ranch for a few weeks...never one to shy away from adventure. One day, her friend and neighbor Rose introduced her to her boyfriend's brother who had just returned from serving in the Marines during WWII. His name was Phil Sinisgalli. He was smart enough to ask her out right away and one year later on June 5, 1948 they were married. She had a shoebox of his love letters which she still read until her death, and no else else was allowed to see them.

They moved to a home in Mayfield Heights where they lived for 62 years, making many lifelong friends along the way. She was very active in St. Clare parish and their St. Barbara's Circle. Her only child Steve was born in 1954, and on June 5, 1981 (33 years from the day Carmella and Phil were married) he wed Jennifer Asad. By the way, Phil's parents were married on June 5, and granddaughter Lexi also chose June 5 for her wedding, exactly 100 years from the date of her great grandparents!

Carmella was so proud of her 2 beautiful granddaughters, Jenna De Dominici (husband Nick) and Alexis Johnson (husband Steve), and 3 wonderful great grandchildren Xavier, Cecilia and Gabriel. Phil passed away in 2018 just short of their 70th wedding anniversary. She then moved to Southpark Square to be closer to Steve and Jennifer. Since moving there, Carmella made many new friends and maintained a very active social life...Lunch with friends, card games, dominoes, and bingo filled many of her evenings. It was at Southpark Square that she celebrated her 100th Birthday in January with a party attended by many family, friends and neighbors.

Carmella had an amazing wit and sense of humor matched by an incredible memory of family, friend and special events in her life. If you ever walked past her apartment, there was a chance you heard Sinatra CD's playing. She was an inspiration to all that knew her.

She will be missed.

Private Services and Entombment were held at Knollwood Cemetery.
