Erin M. Shaw

Erin Marie Shaw (nee Gibbons) of Cleveland, OH, passed away peacefully on March 4th, 2022 at the age of 45 after a long battle with cancer.

Having kicked cancer's ass her entire life, Erin can finally stop fighting. She is survived by her husband Jeff and her parents William and Barbara. Beyond her immediate family, Erin leaves behind a huge network of friends that crosses the entire country — lifelong friends from Cleveland, OH; college friends from Columbus and Napoleon, Ohio; dear friends from Chicago, IL, and Austin, TX, where Erin lived for a number of years; and many others.

Throughout her life, Erin was highly intelligent yet extremely modest — the smartest person in the room who didn't feel the need to prove it. She was highly organized yet joyfully spontaneous — the sensible colleague who could also easily be the life of the party. Erin had an incredible gift of making every single friend of hers feel appreciated and important.

A Strongsville native and proud Ohio State Buckeye, Erin enjoyed movies and award shows (red carpet fashion), and was a voracious reader (everyone knew where to go for a good book recommendation). She also loved live music, having seen hundreds of shows from huge music festivals, where she built yet another network of friends, as well as small live shows in Cleveland and Austin. Erin was the person you wanted by your side in a large noisy crowd, and also the person you wanted by your side on a couch in a silent room. She loved deeply, she was loved deeply, and she is deeply missed.
