Frances Annette Travagliante, age 91, of Maple Heights, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
She was the last survivor of her generation in the Travagliante Family and she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Giuseppe (Joseph) Travagliante, parents Annette and Alfonso Lauricella, sister Josephine (Joe), Helen (Hugh) and brother Vincent (Sharon).
Fran left behind a wonderful legacy; Loving Mother of Michael (Susan) and Perry (Monica); Cherished Grandmother of Hallie (Stewart), Robert, Megan (Eric), Brittany (Chris), Michael (Rachell), Morgan (Jordan), Joseph (Rebecca), and Beloved Great Grandmother of Addison, Sophia, Kayla, Madelyn, Mia, Payton, and Ryker. Fran proudly had many titles including Wife, Mother, Mother-in-law, Sister, Sister-in-law, Grandma, Great Grandma, Godmother, Aunt Tootsie, and Great Aunt and she took these roles with loving pride. Her husband always called her Fray and Ma.
Fran worked for a few years as a bank teller before she took on her most cherished role of homemaker. She kept a pristine home, original appliances in the kitchen from 1958 and they still look brand new today, and if you ever spent the night at the Travagliantes, you were met with the crispest sheets that were freshly laundered and ironed.
Fran always dressed to the nines and she was a fashionista before fashionista was a word. She had a heart of gold and loved feeding her family. Food; not one entrée, not two entrées , usually three entrées, many side dishes, and she would always say “eat more”. Always bakery galore, cookies (i.e., cukalas) Doe-Does, mini cheesecakes, and her famous chocolate-chocolate cake, and you never left the Travagliante home empty-handed because you always took food and bakery home with you.
She personally kept Hallmark in business and if it was your birthday, she and her husband were the first to call and sing in the morning. You also received multiple beautiful Hallmark cards wrapped together with ribbon, and the most eloquent handwritten messages and then you read the cards out loud, every sweet word, often times shoulder-to-shoulder in front of the entire family. She would pick out the best gifts and outfits for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. When you received a gift or made a purchase she would always say “cus-a-lude” meaning using it in good health.
Frances loved strongly and fiercely and she was epitome of kindness and generosity.
Fran received incredible and compassionate care from Hospice of Western Reserve and many thanks to Steve, Grayson, and all the benevolent staff. We also thank her caregivers, Diana and Pam, for their kind hearts and empathetic care.
Monarch Hospice in Pittsburgh also provided outstanding care during her stay and a huge thank you to Sharon, and all of the staff, who made the process of transferring care seamless.
In lieu of flowers, Fran’s family would greatly appreciate donations to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876, St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44110 or at hospicewr.org
