Harold T. Larned

September 28, 1935 — January 21, 2021

HAROLD T. LARNED, age 85

His journey on Earth ended January 21, 2021, but in the blink of an eye his new journey began as he entered into Heaven's gate and looked into the face of Jesus.

Beloved husband of Phyllis (nee Walker). Loving father of Dan (Shelly), Laura Bode (Doug), Beth Lucas and Andrew (Tiffany). Cherished grandfather of Amanda (Scott), Evan (Colleen), Ethan, Weston, Courtney (Jason), Brock, Dalton, Brody, Calvin, Aubrey and Avery. Great-grandfather of Annabel, Elliot, Clara, Janie, Isaac, Cameron, Dylan, Milo, Evelynn. Brother of the following deceased: Kay, Bill, Dorothy, Ed, Eugene and Ruth. Uncle and great uncle of many.

Hal was born in Lake County and lived here all his life. He was an all star athlete at Willoughby Union High School. The day he graduated he was signed by the Cleveland Indians and played in their Minor Leagues for 5 years.

The next 50 years he worked for Jerome Osborne who took him under his wings. Mr Osborne recognized Hal's work ethic and integrity and as a result he became President of Osborne Concrete and Stone and served as an officer in several of the other Osborne companies. His employees said he was tough but fair and never asked anyone to do something he would not do.

Hal served in the National Guard and was honorably discharged.

He was a man who enjoyed helping others. It always seemed that when someone needed a hand, Hal was always there. That was his true gift! He was unassuming and rather shy. The measure of this man has manifested itself in the hundreds of notes and cards he has received from friends and family during his journey the last seven months.
