Helen Shaner Cain, age 98 of Gates Mills, Ohio

Peacefully passed away April 12, 2021. She was born March 20, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio. Helen attended high school at St. Mary's Hall in Faribault, Minnesota and Western Reserve College of Architecture in Cleveland.

Beloved wife of the late Howard B. Cain. Daughter of the late Margaret (Lynch) and Earl Shaner. Sister of the late Margaret (Shaner) Tichy (husband Rudolph). Adoring mother of seven; Margaret Lamb (deceased), Christopher Cain (wife Terry) of Leesburg, FL, Catherine Kaulback (husband Allan) of Versailles, KY, Walker Scott Cain (deceased), Bruce Cain (deceased), Elizabeth Lentz of Chesterland, OH, and Carolyn Cain of Greer, SC. Grandchildren include Chris Blaskis of Chardon, OH, Denise Cain of Antioch, CA, Darren Rybak (deceased), Bruce Rybak of Orwell, OH, Shaner Adams of Greer, SC, Evan Adams of Lyndhurst, OH, Margaret (Megan) Campbell of Novelty, OH, Richard Cain of Butler, PA, and Rachel Lemmings of Chesterland, OH. Helen was great grandmother to 18 and great great grandmother to 1. Caring aunt and loyal friend to many.

Helen worked at the Gates Mills Library for twenty-two years. She was an avid reader, writer, world traveler, gardener, player of games and puzzles, and lover of animals both big and small. Helen was a resident at The Weils, of Bainbridge the past 10 years. A private celebration of life event will be planned for the future.
