Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Jean LaRiche of Mayfield Heights at 85 years old on June 6, 2026.

Jean LaRiche was born and spent her childhood years in the Hough neighborhood of Cleveland,Ohio. After completing high school, Jean earned her cosmetology license and completed an associate’s degree in Bookkeeping from Cuyahoga Community College. Early in her career, she worked in retail and as a bank teller. However, her true professional calling was in bookkeeping, where she built a successful business and assisted many longstanding clients in maintaining meticulous financial records.

Faith was at the heart of Jean’s life. She practiced gratitude for everything God gave her and continually sought ways to be of service to others. As a practicing Catholic, Jean’s faith was woven into her life. She maintained a daily prayer list for those in need and was a part of several prayer groups. Jean was also curious about how others experienced faith and God,seeking to understand and support those around her.

Jean’s most treasured role was within her family. Her dream of having a large family was fulfilled. She instilled strong values across generations and forged lifelong friendships. Her support, encouragement, and generosity were felt deeply by her children, grandchildren, and friends. To know Jean was to know she was always in your corner, cheering you on and offering unconditional love and support.

Jean maintained an active lifestyle. She enjoyed walking, dancing, playing chair volleyball and pickleball. Jean had a talent for sewing and delighted her children by creating fashionable garments for them when they were young. She liked visiting the beach, playing dominos, traveling to Buffalo to see her great grandchildren, and attending Cleveland Guardians games with her family. At home she enjoyed reading, listening to music, baking, and sewing crafts.

Jean is preceded in death by her mother, Olga Geremia, stepfather, Nicola (Papa Nic) Geremia; her former husband and the father of her children, Louis (Bob) R. La Riche II; and her sister Rose Lydic.

Jean leaves behind her children: Susan Bauer (Jeff), Louis La Riche III (Tina); Angela Giaimo (Joseph); Janet Ribovich (John); Darlene Hauserman (David); and Valerie La Riche. She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

Services celebrtiIng her life will be held at St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church, 5384 Wilson Mills Road, Highland Heights, Ohio 44143 (440-442-3410) on Tuesday June 16, 2026, at 10:00am. A luncheon will follow in the St. Paschal Hall, and a private burial for the family will take place at All Saint’s Cemetery
