Giuseppe (Joseph) Travagliante, age 93, of Maple Heights, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 69 years, Frances (nee Lauricella), and preceded in death by his parents Charles and Concetta, brothers, Vito (Lucy), Sam (Stella) and sister Nancy (Mandanici).
Joe left behind a wonderful legacy; Loving Father of Michael (Susan) and Perry (Monica); Cherished Grandfather of Hallie (Stewart), Robert, Megan (Eric), Brittany (Chris), Michael (Rachell), Morgan (Jordan), Joseph (Rebecca), and Beloved Great Grandfather of Addison, Sophia, Kayla, Madelyn, Mia, Payton, and Ryker. Joe proudly had many titles including Husband, Father, Father-in-law, Brother, Brother-in-law, Grandpa, Godfather, Uncle and Great Uncle and he took these roles with loving pride.
Joe spent his life dedicated to his family and lifelong friends. He loved going to his grandchildren’s many sporting events and school activities. He possessed a strong work ethic, charismatic character, and possessed family values beyond compare. Joe had a good sense of humor, a slow and steady smile, a quiet demeanor, and when he spoke, everyone listened. Joe loved using “Italian” phrases and sitting at the head of the kitchen table surrounded by family while enjoying his wife’s delicious cooking and her bakery…. “Mangia!” he would say.
Joe proudly served in the U.S. Army where he fought in the frontlines of the Korean war. He was a proud member of the Local 5 Bricklayers Union until his retirement. His huge working hands were equal to his huge warm heart.
Joe received incredible and compassionate care from Hospice of Western Reserve and many thanks to Steve, Grayson, and all the benevolent staff. We also thank his caregivers, Diana and Pam, for their kind hearts and empathetic care.
In lieu of flowers, Joe’s family would greatly appreciate donations to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876, St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44110 or at hospicewr.org
