Léon A. Danco PhD, age 89, of Pepper Pike, OH passed away on February 3rd. Devoted husband for 62 years of Katharine (Leck) Danco. Loving father of Suzanne (Barry) Doggett of Cleveland and Ty (Hélène) Danco of Burlington, Vt. Beloved Papa of Tyler Doggett, Katy Burgess, Alex and Dominique Danco. Great grandfather of Isaac and Felix Doggett and Leon Burgess.
Born in New York City, he served his country in World War II as the Commander of a U.S. Coast Guard vessel in the Pacific. A graduate of Harvard College, Harvard Business School and Case Western Reserve University, he created the Center for Family Business in Cleveland. Dr. Danco was an internationally renowned author and speaker. He was a consultant to family businesses around the world. He was recognized by Business Week and Nation's Business as one of the nation's earliest and foremost authorities on family-owned businesses. He was a pioneer in recognizing the unique attributes and distinctive needs of the owners and managers of family businesses and their families.
