Leo R Lombardo

Leo R. Lombardo of Highland Heights, OH passed away peacefully on December 19, 2022 at the age of 82 with Nancy Lombardo, his beloved wife of 49 years at his side.  Leo was born in Cleveland the son of the late Leo F. and Marie Lombardo.  Leo was a graduate of Cleveland Heights High School and Case Institute of Technology. Leo was a brilliant and successful engineer throughout his life, having secured many patents for his inventions as well as being a member of the team setting the still current highest recorded land speed record on a railway in North America.

In addition to being a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Leo loved dogs, having had many special buddies throughout his lifetime. He was passionate about serving his community and giving back.  He was a Lyndhurst City Council member, serving also as Vice Mayor of Lyndhurst as well as a Highland Heights city council member.  He was a Brother and Past Master of Lyndhurst Masonic Lodge #508, as well as an advisor for the associated DeMolay Chapter. Leo could often be found volunteering in the community, with anything from a flower sale, selling tickets to a high school musical or answering the phone at the WVIZ auction.

In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by infant sister, Norma Jean Lombardo.

Along with his loving Wife, Nancy, Leo is survived by his children, Derick A. Lombardo, James R. Lombardo (Patsy) and Deborah L. Lombardo, grandchildren Benjamin R. Lombardo and Ellen M. Lombardo, his brother Kenneth W. Lombardo (Kathleen) and his nephew, Bryan P. Lombardo.

Interment Acacia Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral Service 11 am Wednesday, December 28 at THE FIORITTO FUNERAL HOME, 5236 Mayfield Road, Lyndhurst (East of Richmond Road) WHERE FRIENDS MAY CALL ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 27 FROM 4-7 PM.
