Marvin "Doyle" Owen 86 passed away peacefully on August 6, 2016 at The Merriman of West Akron, Ohio. He was born in Gleason, Tennessee on December 24, 1929 to Charlie and Lula Page Owen. He is survived by Rosemary, his loving wife of over 61 years, of West Akron and children Charles Owen (Dumont) of Cleveland Heights, Ohio and Polly Ann Daher (Nadim) of Copley, Ohio. He was "granddaddy" to Christopher Daher (Dana), Emily Daher-Fiagbedzi (Joshua), Alex Daher and Luke Daher. He was preceded in death by siblings Adele Winstead, Mamie Cuppernell, Eulus Wade Owen, Raymond Owen and Page Junior Owen.
Doyle was a native of McKenzie, Tennessee and a long-time Cleveland Heights, Ohio resident. He was an active member of Church of the Saviour (United Methodist) of Cleveland Heights where he had many leadership roles and involvements in his over 50 years of membership. Known to many as the "Music Man", he was a long-time president of Cleveland, Ohio's Muzak franchise and was known by friends as an ardent lover of jazz and classical music. He was remembered for his compelling stories, warm Southern hospitality, witty sense of humor and gift of conversation. A life-long learner and enjoyer of the arts, Doyle left a legacy of a life well lived.
As a young man, Doyle proudly served his country in Korea as a first sergeant in the United States Army. He later attended the University of Chicago during which he met his dear wife, Rosemary. He was also a long-time member and former president of the Cleveland Rotary Club where he fully enjoyed being of service to his community.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 15, 2016 at Church of the Saviour, 2537 Lee Road, Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Family and friends will gather in the church Parlor at 11:00 a.m. with the service at 12:00 noon in the Sanctuary followed by a reception in the Parlor.
