Mary Patkose, 81, of Lyndhurst passed after a courageous battle with Leukemia. Mary worked in banking more than 43 years and proudly retired from KeyBank. A bright light to all who knew her, Mary loved to spend time with family and friends, especially going out to dinner and events. Born in Campobasso, Italy in 1939, Mary came to the United States at the age of 7 and grew up in Cleveland, raised by her wonderful parents, Nick and Rita Capretta (deceased). Mary's sister Lucy (Paul) Mandzak was her best friend and preceded her in death in 2015. Mary and her husband, Dominic, recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary. Their 50th Anniversary celebration in 2019 was the highlight of her past decade. Mary was an active member of the Italian American Club, the Sjogren's Society and her parish community for many years. Mary's kindness and generosity were among her greatest traits and she made everyone around her feel most welcome.
In addition to the love of her life, Dominic, Mary is survived by a cousin, Dina (Ron) Kozak; a nephew, Thomas (Brandi) Mandzak; nieces, Laura (Lenny) Gibbons and Gina (Joe) Safranek; and Billie and Meghan Patkose. Mary was so proud to be a great aunt to 11. Mary was also preceded in death by her beloved cousin Mary Capretta, and in-laws William and Clara Patkose.
