Maxwell Henry Davis DDS, 89, of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, died May 16, 2014 at Judson Park. "Mac," son of Nathan and Sarah Davis, loving husband of Susan Davis, was a lifelong resident of the Cleveland area, a graduate of Cleveland Heights High and Ohio State. He practiced dentistry for 30 years and then spent 20 years as a pioneer in managed health care.
He was passionate about politics, world peace and universal health care and remained actively involved in these causes throughout his life. As a member of The City Club of Cleveland he formed an alliance between Cleveland and Volgograd, Russia, developing a free speech forum and improving healthcare in Volgograd. He enjoyed sailing, the Indians and the Browns, and traveled extensively with his wife.
He is survived by wife Susan Davis, daughters Barbara Davis, Dorri Penny (David), E. Maxwell Davis (Lesley Williams), sons Fred Davis and Kevin Reeves (Molly), and grandchildren Jessica, Jennifer, Nathan, Andrew, Laura, Conrad, Hayley and Elliott, as well as five great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers D'Arnold (Thelma) and Lawrence (Lee) Davis as well as granddaughter Cindy Davis Eyre (Josh).
Mac was the heart and soul of his family, a dear friend to many and will be greatly missed by all. A celebration of his life will be 2pm August 9 at Judson Park. In lieu of flowers, Mac would have preferred a donation in his name to ACLU of Cleveland, Peace Action Education Fund, or Judson Foundation.
