Michael W. Pozsgai, age 76

Beloved father of Tim (Tricia). Loving grandfather of Timmy and Tyler. Dearest son of Elmer and Jean Pozsgai (both deceased). Cherished brother of Bill Pozsgai (Melissa). Dearest uncle of Cameron and John. Former husband of Kathleen (nee Crawford).

Mike was a dedicated educator, football coach, a beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle who passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025. A man of great integrity, compassion, and intellect, Mike leaves behind a profound legacy of service and leadership.

Mike spent his life shaping the minds and hearts of others. He began his career as a teacher, inspiring countless students with his passion for learning and commitment to their growth. His impact extended beyond the classroom, as he also served as a coach, guiding young athletes. Whether on the football field or in the classroom, Mike believed deeply in the power of education and teamwork to help student athletes gain lifelong skills.

Mike began his coaching career at Hiram College before making coaching stops at Coventry High School, West Geauga, St Joseph/VASJ and Gilmour Academy. Mike also served as the Dean of Students and Athletic Director at Gilmour Academy, where he played a key role in fostering a positive and supportive environment for both students and staff. His leadership was characterized by his unwavering commitment to student success and his deep empathy for others.

Later in his career, Mike worked in the field of Information Technology, supporting University Hospitals, where his work helped improve the quality of care and the lives of many patients.

Throughout his life, Mike was known for his caring nature, wisdom, and ability to inspire student athletes. He was a mentor, a teacher, and a friend to many. His influence will live on through the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the love he shared with his family and friends.

Interment Knollwood Cemetery. Funeral Services 11 am Thursday at THE FIORITTO FUNERAL HOME, 5236 MAYFIELD RD, LYNDHURST (E OF RICHMOND RD) WHERE FRIENDS MAY CALL 4-8 PM WEDNESDAY.
