Nancy L Lombardo

Nancy L. Lombardo (nee Emmerson) passed away peacefully on January 26, 2024, her 80^th birthday, in Mayfield, Ohio.  Nancy was born in East St. Louis Illinois on January 26, 1944, the daughter of the late Arthur F. and Olga M. Emmerson. 

In addition to her parents, Nancy is preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Leo R. Lombardo who passed away in December 2022.

Nancy was a graduate of Altoona Area High School in Altoona, PA.  Nancy began her career working for the railroad, where she met and fell in love with Leo.  From there she worked for many years as a medical secretary. Following that she became and eventually retired as the secretary of the Transportation Department of the SEL School System where she was incredibly respected, even earning the nickname “Sarge”.

Nancy is survived by her children, James R. Lombardo (Patsy) and Deborah L. Lombardo, Derrick A. Lombardo, grandchildren Benjamin R. Lombardo and Ellen M. Lombardo, one sister, Suzanne E. Nelson, Brother and Sister-in-Law Ken and Kathy Lombardo, and Nephew Bryan Lombardo.

In addition to being a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, Nancy was passionate about serving her community through countless volunteer activities.  Most notably, Nancy was a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, Hillcrest chapter where she held many leadership positions, up to and including being the Ohio GFWC State President in 2000. She was also very active in the SEL PTA, Brush High School Music Boosters, Meals on Wheels, WVIZ auction and many others.
