Noel Menesse

Noel Menesse, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 19 surrounded by family.

Born and raised in the Santa Cruz neighborhood of Mumbai, India, Noel, distinguished himself early in life through intelligence, determination, and a quiet strength. He graduated with honors from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, earning a master’s degree in chemical engineering.

He began his professional career at Hindustan Lever, where he was part of the pioneering first group of Indian managers—a groundbreaking accomplishment that reflected both his leadership and his trailblazing spirit. In 1977, he took a bold step that would define his family’s future: emigrating to the United States to work for Diamond Shamrock. During his tenure there, he was instrumental in opening new markets in India and China, strengthening international ties and expanding opportunities for the company. He later enjoyed a rewarding and successful career at ISK Biotech, from which he retired in the 1990s.

Noel Menesse was a man of broad interests and deep passions. He loved to travel and was devoted to classical music, fine wine, and good food. He was an unwavering Cleveland Browns fan and never lost his lifelong love for cricket and tennis. In retirement, he cherished time spent at his beloved home in Goa, “Luisa by the Sea,” where he found peace and joy.

He is survived by his sister, Beattie D’Costa; his wife, Claudine Menesse; his children, Mario Menesse (Amy), Anita Edwards (Jonathan), and Tania Menesse (Rick); and his six grandchildren, Haley Edwards, Alex Edwards, Michael Menesse, Christopher Menesse, Sage Smith, and Hazel Smith. His warmth, wisdom, and generous spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.

A celebration of Noel Menesse’s life will be held at Tania Menesse’s home, 2737 Endicott Road on November 8 from 2 – 5pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Cleveland Institute of Music or City Music.
