Richard C. Hagen

Richard "Rich" Hagen, 85, of Mentor, OH, died on May 20, 2025, surrounded by his family.

He was born on October 11,1939 to Carl John Hagen and Sue (Maylock) Hagen in Cleveland, OH.

Rich graduated from Baldwin Wallace University and University of Pittsburgh where he played baseball. He also played minor league baseball for the Pittsburgh organization after college. His military service included the Army and Army National Guard.

Rich spent most of his career at Brush HS where he taught math in the district and served as the football public address announcer for 32 years. He also coached the boys and girls Tennis teams to over 600 victories over those 32 years and was inducted into the Charles F. Brush HS Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015. He was inducted into the Ohio Tennis Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1995. Following his coaching career, he was one of the Sectional Tournament Directors for more than 30 years and a State Tournament Official for more than 20 years, as well as a past President of the Ohio Tennis Coaches Association.

Following retirement, Rich enjoyed volunteering his time at St John Vianney Parish, participating as an announcer at their annual Church Festival. He loved spending time with his family, especially in Myrtle Beach, and enjoyed golfing with his friends.

Rich is survived by his children, Richard Hagen (wife Ginger), Christine Hall, Jeffrey Hagen (wife Caroline), stepchildren Pamela (nee Lucha) Vanone, Thomas Lucha (Sarah) and his Grandchildren, Erica, Andrew, Daniel, Matthew, Jacob, and Isabella.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sue and Carl, wife Nancy (nee Cosenza), brother Donald Hagen and grandson Erick Hagen.

Family and Friends are invited to gather for Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 am Saturday, May 31, 2025 at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor, OH 44060. FRIENDS MAY CALL AT THE FIORITTO FUNERAL HOME, 5236 MAYFIELD ROAD, LYNDHURST (EAST OF RICHMOND ROAD) ON FRIDAY, MAY 30, FROM 4-7 P.M.

Interment will be private.
