Roland E
Clark
November 11, 1929 – March 15, 2026
Roland Edwin Clark of Willoughby Hills, Ohio (Breckenridge/Ohio Living) and former long-time resident of Lyndhurst, Ohio, passed away peacefully at 96 years of age on March 15th, 2026.
Beloved husband of 65 years to the late Janet Immel Clark, devoted father of Dwight Clark and his wife, Nancy, of Bay Village, Ohio; Scott Clark and his wife, Leslie, of Newburyport, Massachusetts; and pre-deceased by youngest son, Jim. Adoring grandfather to Mindy Bower, Brett, and Mackenzie Clark, and great-grandfather to Maisie, Fletcher and Graham Bower.
Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1929, one of three sons to Lloyd and Esther Clark, Roland was raised with brothers Gordon and Roger. He was a proud graduate of Michigan State University, achieving a degree in Engineering and serving as a Football Manager for the Spartan football team. After working for Saginaw Steering Gear and then serving in the U.S. Army, he was hired by General Electric, transferring to Cleveland, Ohio, where he enjoyed a robust 36-year career as a mechanical engineer, his last 10 years proudly serving GE at Nela Park. One of his treasured professional accomplishments was serving as an integral part of the team which created the 158-inch fused quartz mirror for the telescope installed at Kitt Peak National Observatory in Arizona in 1973.
Roland and Janet raised their three sons in Lyndhurst, where he was a dedicated member of the Lyndhurst Presbyterian Community Church, joining Janet, and singing tenor in their church choir for over 50 years.
Roland was a true gentleman. Kind, positive-thinking, affable, generous, incredibly-detailed, with a fine wit and sense of humor that was always ready for a good joke, anecdote, or funny cartoon. His mind was incredibly sharp, always up for the daily challenge of a crossword puzzle or a spreadsheet that could yield some insightful data. There were very few, if any, mechanical challenges he couldn’t fix.
For over 12 years, he served as a true ambassador and friend to many residents and staff at Breckenridge Village.
A Celebration of Roland Clark’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 25 at 11:00 am at Bay United Methodist Church, 29931 Lake Road, Bay Village, Ohio 44140. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends at 10:30 am at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Bay United Methodist Church, for a new fund established in his name, to benefit the Church Choir.
