Sally Ann Giannantonio, 67, died September 29, 2020, with her husband, Frank, by her side in Mayfield Heights, Ohio.
She was born May 7, 1953, in Aurora, Illinois, to Marion and George Mercer and later moved with her family to Kansas City, Missouri. Sally is preceded in death by both her parents and a brother, Bruce. Sally is survived by her husband, Frank and two brothers, John Mercer (wife Barbara) of Antioch Illinois and Chuck Mercer, of Mentor, Ohio.
Sally met her husband, Frank, while she was living in Mentor, Ohio, in 1975, and they later married on February 3, 1978. Sally was a very hard worker and had a strong work ethic. She went from working at the Mentor Courthouse to a grocery store, then spent several years working at drug stores, beginning with Revco, then Gray Drugs, and on to CVS where she was the store manager. At CVS Sally received several awards for her store displays. From CVS she next worked at Rite Aid and then went into the home health care field where she was employed by the Jewish Community Center, the Visiting Angels, and lastly, Ultimate Care. On December 12, 2019, she had a fall that took her to the emergency room, and sadly, from that time until her death, she was never able to return home.
Sally was generous, fun-loving, kind, joyful and had a strong will to live and attempted to enjoy life while enduring much physical pain. She often played "Santa" for the children of her extended family, and can be remembered for bringing spectacular cakes for all occasions to family parties. She loved being a part of her husband Frank's very large Italian family. Her extended family will never forget her generosity, compassion and joy, especially for the youngest members of the family. Aunt Sally was a special blessing to her nieces and nephews.
