1932 SUSAN 2016

October 19, 1932 — December 26, 2016

Mary Susan Davis of Cleveland, Ohio died on December 26, 2016. Born October 19, 1932 in Greenville, Ohio, "Susan" was the youngest daughter of Fred C. Williams and Miriam G. (nee Weber) Williams. She graduated from McGuffey High School in Oxford, Ohio and earned her BA at Miami University and MA at Louisiana State University before practicing child psychology for over 35 years. A longtime resident of Shaker and Cleveland Heights, Susan lost her beloved husband Maxwell H. Davis in 2014.

A talented pianist, Susan was an avid and knowledgeable patron of theatre, dance, classical music and the visual arts. She pursued college courses on art, history and politics until her final years. She loved learning about the world through reading and travel, pursuits she was deeply grateful to share with Mac over their 44 years together. She was a feminist and an ardent supporter of global women's and LGBT rights.

Susan is survived by her children Kevin Reeves (Molly) and E. Maxwell Davis (Lesley Williams), stepchildren Fred Davis, Barbara Davis, and Dorri Penny (David), grandchildren Jessica, Jennifer, Nathan, Andrew, Laura, Conrad, Hayley and Elliott, and five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Maxwell, sisters Louane Kowal (John) and Judy Goulder (Albert) and by granddaughter Cindy Davis Eyre (Josh).

Susan was a witty and vibrant woman who enjoyed good food, good wine, and good company. She will be greatly missed by her family and her eclectic circle of friends. A memorial will be held in the spring of 2017. In lieu of flowers, Susan preferred that donations be made to Planned Parenthood, the Cleveland Animal Protective League, or the Cleveland International Piano Competition.
