On Saturday, May 16, 2020, Thelma Louise Tarr (nee Pietrocini), loving wife and mother of four passed away at the age of 89.
Thelma was born on June 28, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio to Antoinette and Frederick Pietrocini. She received a Kindergarten-Primary teaching degree from Kent State University in 1951. On February 23, 1952 she married John Tarr. They raised two sons, Gregory and Robert, and two daughters, Susan and Luanne.
Thelma dedicated herself to raising her children and being a homemaker. In the 1980's she returned to teaching as a substitute teacher for the Cleveland Hts. - University Hts. School District. She was always a social butterfly and wowed her friends and family with her culinary prowess and ability to recreate a dish simply by tasting it. After her kids were grown, she traveled the world with her husband exploring destinations from New Orleans to Italy. She also enjoyed painting, especially birds and flowers, even selling her art printed on cards in her local crafts store. This obituary background is one of her paintings. Her other hobbies included playing cards and golf, but she most of all enjoyed spending time with her loved ones.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, Antoinette and Frederick Pietrocini, her sister Virginia (Pietrocini) Milcewski and brother Frederick Pietrocini.
She is survived by her husband, John, her children, Gregory (Debbie), Susan, Luanne Ciha (Thomas) and Robert (Dorothy); her grandchildren, Marissa Thompson (Howard), Roger Stein, Philip (Molly), Olivia, and Dominic; and her great grandchildren, Elena, Jordan, Rose and Xavier.
Services and entombment at LakeView Cemetery will be private.
For the well being of Thelma's loving husband John, the family requests no phone calls to John. Sympathy wishes can be sent to his daughter, Susan or left in Thelma's online guestbook, and they will all be read to John by his family.
