William J Sassano

William James Sassano, age 83

Beloved husband of Patricia (nee McGlumphy). Loving father of Suzanne (husband Mario), Christine and William L (deceased). Cherished grandfather of Brianna (husband Colin), Mario, Anthony, Jackson, Julia, Samuel and Maximus.

Bill Sassano will be remembered because he made memories. Ask anyone who ever met him and they will tell you about a special memory they have of him. It might have been a shared drink, a sports fact or a cigar. To some it was Italian heritage, to others it was a trinket from the trunk of his car. Yet others, it was a place he shared on the baseball field where he played for The Cleveland Indians farm club. Maybe it was a joke, a photo, M&M's, wings, a steak or talk of Benedictine High School. These memories never come as a solo item. They came with an eternal laugh or a smile. A smile that comes back to our faces when we think of him and the time we spent with him.

To have the ability to create a memory or two is something special. To have the ability to custom make one for everyone he would meet is extraordinary.

In return, there was nothing anyone wouldn't do for him. The care and treatment he received from University Hospital was great and it's certain he provided them with memories too.

His passing is the only sadness we'll know from him. Sadness because he will no longer make new memories. The ones we have will never go away and we know when we think of him our memories will be accompanied with a smile.

The family would like to thank University Hospital for the extraordinary care throughout the years.

Family and friends are invited to meet for a Mass of Christian Burial 10 am Saturday, Nov 30 at St Francis of Assisi Church, 6850 Mayfield Rd, Gates Mills, 44040, where friends may call from 9:30 until time of mass.
